Tannoy Curiosities

Tannoy have installed foghorn systems designed to be heard at a range of six miles out to sea. This lighthouse is such
an example, although the notion of stereo sound reproduction from such an installation is mere fantasy!

A Tannoy Music Center system from 1932 that incorporated a radio and turntable with separate loudspeaker.

Above: A patent application by Tannoy in the late 1970's for an acoustic lens system designed to improve dispersion of high-frequencies from the HF horn throat. Note the double ceramic magnet system - one for the bass unit, and one for the HF unit.
